Who are we?
We are SilveRace, the 2026 STEM Racing World Finalists from Filippo Silvestri School in Portici, Italy.
What is STEM Racing?
STEM Racing (formerly known as F1 in Schools) is a worldwide multidisciplinary competition for students aged 9 to 19. Participants are challenged to design, analyse, manufacture and refine a miniature Formula 1 car, which is then raced along a 20-metre track powered by CO₂ cartridges.
The purpose of STEM Racing is to equip enthusiastic learners with lasting skills that support their education and future careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. By working with industry-standard engineering tools, project management methods, and marketing strategies, students develop a versatile skillset that reaches far beyond the traditional classroom experience.
Beyond engineering these small high-speed vehicles, teams are also responsible for building a complete brand identity. This includes securing sponsorships to finance the project and producing detailed portfolios and presentations that document every stage of their work. As a result, students engage with both technical aspects and project communication.
